109 Ace Wilhelm Balthasar: Battle of France and Battle of Britain veteran, and the 2nd Luftwaffe pilot to be awarded the Ritterkreuz (behind Werner Molders). A former Artillery officer, he had success in Spain, France, and England. He was killed in the summer of 1941 in France while attempting to disengage from Brit fighters; his wings folded up while in a dive. The original does not exist, so this full-sized art represents this BOB veteran, in the colors that he wore at the end of his brief career.
